Certifications

Before working my first real computer job i studied and passed 2 certifications: Comptia A+ and Windows Vista - Configuration. which turned out to be a great choice as one of the reasons I was hired at Torosian & Walter was because they had just upgraded to Windows Vista and were having problems.
During my time at Torosian & Walter i sat two more exams to receive my Microsoft Desktop support technician certification. I personally like to study and sit exams on topics related to my work experience. Anyone can pass a test but I like to have the experience to go along with the certification.
Once I knew I needed to move on and support more users I was interviewed for a few jobs, one of them was for a school district with 100% apple computers. I didn't get the job but felt I could have if i was more up to date on apple computers. So I bought a Macbook and began to fill a hole in my knowledge. I sat two exams to achieve the Apple Certified Support Professional certificate and feel it has made me a better all round System Administrator.
I was then hired by Sierra Pacific Orthopaedic Center (SPOC), lots of computers and printers to keep me busy on. My administration experience was limited to this point, setting up user accounts and email inbox's. At SPOC I was given full admin responsibilities in a short space of time. I was finally responsible for everything, a one man IT Department with an IT Manager. I hit the books in my spare time and sat four separate exams to achieve my Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator certification.
